「由此二種至我及我所」者，答。由此二種說有我故，名之為我。我非有故，但有語言，故名我語。經言「異生隨假言說起我執，於中實無我及我所。」明知我體非有，但有語言。

"Because through these two... self and what belongs to self": the reply. Because the self is spoken of as existing by means of these two, it is called self. Since the self does not exist, there are only words; hence they are called theories of self. The sūtra says: 'Worldly beings give rise to the grasping of a self following nominal conventions; within them, there is actually no self nor what belongs to a self.' Thus one clearly knows that the substance of a self does not exist, but there is only language.
