[On the quote from the] *Śāstra*: “Tradition says that sentient beings… or are deluded about form and mind,” this explains the first threefold set. The Buddha’s intention is difficult to know, hence it says ‘Tradition says’. Thus the *Nyāyānusāra* says: “Although the intention of the Sugata is extremely difficult to know, searching based on reasoning, it seems it should be like this: For those deluded about mental factors, he taught skandhas, because there is one [skandha of] form, one of mind, and three of mental factors. For those deluded about form, he taught āyatanas, because there are ten whole and one small portion of form, one whole mind, and one small portion of mental factors. For those deluded about both form and mind, he taught the eighteen dhātus, because ten whole and one small portion are form, seven whole are mind, and one large portion is mental factors.”
