論「如牛所駕車至故作是說」，二喻顯也。牛車略去所駕二字，擇滅略去力所得三字，故名擇滅。

The treatise says, "Just as a cart yoked to oxen … therefore this is said": this is the second [part], illustrating by metaphor. Just as "ox-cart" elides the two characters "yoked to", "cessation through deliberation" (pratisaṃkhyā-nirodha) elides the three characters "obtained through the power [of]", and is thus called "cessation through deliberation".
