論「段有二種至翻此為麁」，此釋段食。於中有三：一問細麁、二明界繫、三明體性兼釋名。此文初也。「污蟲」者，謂因津污濕氣而生，即細濕生蟲。餘文可解。

The Śāstra says: "Solid food is of two kinds ... the opposite of this is coarse." This explains solid food. Herein there are three parts: first, inquiring about subtle and coarse; second, clarifying the realm to which it is bound; third, clarifying its essential nature while explaining its name. This passage is the first. "Filth insects" refers to those born from exudations and dampness, namely tiny moisture-born insects. The rest of the text is intelligible.
