論「應無定故」，此勝論反難。論主種中地大與芽地大二類雖別而許相生，既異類相生，應無有定故。麥種、穀芽亦是異類，應麥種中大生穀等芽。

The treatise says: "Because there would be no determinacy." This is the Vaiśeṣikas' counter-objection: For the Master of the Treatise, although the earth element in the seed and the earth element in the sprout belong to two different classes, you maintain that they produce one another; since things of different classes produce one another, there would be no determinacy. Barley seeds and grain sprouts are also of different classes, so the great elements in a barley seed should produce grain sprouts and the like.
