12.188

論「故即於諸分至如旋火輪」，論主自述宗義。如旋火輪，於相續位非輪，輪覺離其火外無別有輪。即於諸分漸次了別，而實無別有分衣故起有分覺。

The treatise says: "Therefore, simply in the various parts … like a whirling firebrand." The Master of the Treatise relates his own school's doctrine: Just as with a whirling firebrand, in its continuum there is no circle, yet the awareness of a circle arises, while apart from the fire there is no separate circle; simply upon the gradual discernment of the various parts, while in reality there is no separate whole cloth, the cognition of a whole arises.
