論「如彼所宗至合能發識」，引外宗證。如彼宗中多微合故共生一果，別則不生。或如眼、境等合能生眼識，別則不生。我宗由多微合故識、根能取，別不能取。

The treatise says: "Just as in their own system... when united, they are able to generate consciousness," this adduces the other school's doctrine as proof. Just as in their system, because many atoms unite, they jointly produce a single effect, whereas separately they do not produce it; or just as the eye and an object, when united, can generate eye-consciousness, whereas separately they do not produce it: so in our system, because many atoms unite, the consciousness and the faculty can grasp them, whereas separately they cannot grasp them.
