12.64

論「依如是義至他為己故」，引頌證。就此頌中，前兩句「下士」者是異生，次兩句「中士」者是二乘，後四句「上士」是菩薩。

On the Śāstra's text, "Relying on such an meaning... takes others as oneself": Citing a verse as proof. Within this verse, the first two lines, "inferior persons," refers to ordinary persons (pṛthagjana); the next two lines, "middling persons," refers to the two vehicles; the final four lines, "superior persons," refers to bodhisattvas.
