13.33

論「如風手合至應由比量」，論主引證。如風與燈焰合時，後焰不生，非令前滅。手與鈴合，義亦如是。現量既有兩速，未得為定。故此義成，應由比量。

Treatise: "Just as when wind and hand conjoin […] it should be by inference." The author cites proof. Just as when wind conjoins with the flame of a lamp, subsequent flames do not arise, and it is not that it causes the preceding one to perish; the case is also like this when a hand conjoins with a bell. Since direct perception has two possibilities, it cannot yet be taken as definitive. Therefore, the establishment of this principle should be through inference.
