13.60

論「或錦等中至非實有體」，同處多體難也。如方錦上有圓錦窠，即此窠中復有種種邪正文像同於一處，應有多故。理實不然，顯於同處既無多顯，形於一處豈得多形？今詳此難非有部宗，錦之文像非形色故。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Or within brocade, etc. [... to ...] it does not have a real entity": This is the refutation based on multiple entities in the same locus. For example, on a square piece of brocade there is a round brocade pattern, and within this very pattern there are again various oblique and straight patterns and images in the same locus; [if shape were real,] there would have to be multiple [shapes in one place]. In truth, this is not so: since visible color in the same locus has no multiple visible colors, how could shape in one locus obtain multiple shapes? Examining this refutation now, it does not pertain to the Sarvāstivādin tenet, because the patterns and images of brocade are not shape-matter.
