14.131

論「後離三種至心便離憍」，答。若不受禁約支，心便憍舉，尋即毀戒。《正理論》云「謂香鬘等若恒受用，尚順憍慢為犯戒緣，況受新奇曾未受者，故一切種皆應捨離。」

The commentary states: "Subsequently abstaining from three kinds [...] the mind becomes free of pride", an answer. If one does not receive the factor of restraint, the mind will become proud and elevated, immediately breaking the precepts. The Nyāyānusāra states: "If perfumes, garlands, and the like are constantly enjoyed, they already foster pride and serve as conditions for violating precepts, how much more so when enjoying novel and unusual things never enjoyed before? Therefore, all such varieties must be abandoned."
