The treatise states: "Being obtained from two [...] natural offenses and prohibitory offenses." This explains the second clause. There are two kinds of 'two': sentient beings and insentient things; natural offenses and prohibitory offenses. If it is engendered solely with a defiled mind, it is subsumed under natural offenses, like killing living beings and so forth. If it is common to both defiled and undefiled minds, it is subsumed under prohibitory offenses, like drinking alcohol and so forth. The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Regarding sentient beings, natural offenses refer to killing living beings and the like; prohibitory offenses refer to lodging in the same room with a woman and the like. Regarding insentient things, natural offenses refer to stealing external wealth; prohibitory offenses refer to digging the earth, destroying living grass, and the like."
