17.30

論「若爾彼文至能斷善根者」，餘師引本論難。本論既云「上品不善根能斷善根」，故知唯一品斷，本論二文便自相違。

On the Śāstra's stating: "If so, that passage [...] those capable of severing wholesome roots", another master cites the root treatise to object. Since the root treatise states that "superior unwholesome roots are capable of severing wholesome roots", one knows that they are severed in only a single grade; thus the two passages of the root treatise contradict each other.
