18.4

「論曰至是虛誑語」，出五逆業體。天授知五法實非是道，誑無知比丘說是道，故是妄語。餘四身業，出佛身血是加行，餘三是殺根本。

From 'The Śāstra says' to 'is false speech': This identifies the essential nature of the five acts of immediate retribution. Devadatta knew that the five practices were genuinely not the path, yet deceived ignorant monks by declaring them to be the path; therefore it is false speech. The other four are bodily karmas: causing the Tathāgata’s body to bleed is a preliminary application (prayoga), while the other three are fundamental acts (maula) of killing.
