論「如殺生纏」，已下引喻釋也。於中引三喻：一殺生纏等、二無有愛、三有愛一分，此皆是修所斷而定不行。慢亦如是，有雖修斷而定不行。聖人定不行殺、盜、婬、誑故，所以發彼業、惑雖是修斷，決定不行。

On the Śāstra's statement: 'Like the entanglement of killing': Below cites analogies for explanation. Within this, three analogies are cited: first, the entanglement of killing and so forth; second, craving for non-existence (vibhavatṛṣṇā); third, a fraction of craving for existence (bhavatṛṣṇā). These are all abandoned by cultivation and yet definitely not practiced. Pride is also like this: although some are abandoned by cultivation, they are definitely not practiced. Because the noble definitely do not engage in killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, or lying, the karma and defilements that initiate them, though abandoned by cultivation, are definitely not practiced.
