19.17

論「十廣縛義至自界地故」，《正理論》云「令不能越自界、自地，以能長養染污界故。」述曰：界是因義，煩惱現行能令染法因增長，故名長養染污界。或長養自界染污，故不能越自界也。

Regarding the treatise from "Tenth, the extensive meaning of bondage... up to... its own realm and plane", the *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Because it causes [one] to be unable to transcend one's own realm (dhātu) and one's own plane (bhūmi), since it nourishes the defiled constituent." The commentary states: 'Constituent' has the meaning of cause; the active operation of defilements causes the cause of defiled dharmas to increase and grow, hence it is called nourishing the defiled constituent. Or, it nourishes the defilements of its own realm, and therefore one cannot transcend one's own realm.
