論「如大自在至妄起道執」，指事別釋。謂或有計大自在等、投水火等種種邪行為生天因，及佛法中唯受持戒，及諸外道計數相應智，并計我等非解脫道，妄起道執，皆名戒禁取。《正理論》釋生天因名增上生道，解脫因名為決定勝道。

On the text stating, "Such as Maheśvara... falsely generating the clinging to a path": this specifies individual instances to explain it. Namely, there are those who hold that Maheśvara and the like, or throwing oneself into water and fire, and various such wrong practices, are causes for being born in heaven; or, within the Buddha-dharma, merely taking and maintaining precepts; or various non-Buddhists who hold the knowledge associated with Sāṃkhya (enumeration), as well as clinging to the self, and so forth, which are not paths to liberation, falsely generating the clinging that they are paths—all of these are called the grasping of precepts and vows. The *Nyāyānusāra* explains that the cause of birth in heaven is called the path of higher rebirth (abhyudaya), while the cause of liberation is called the path of definitive goodness (niḥśreyasa).
