論「此異生性至應是異生」，此反難經部也。若忍斷者，如無間道猶成惑得。若忍斷異生性，忍現起時應成異生，則應聖者亦是異生。

The *Śāstra* states: "From 'this ordinary-worldling nature' up to 'would have to be an ordinary worldling'"—this is a counter-challenge directed against the Sautrāntikas. If it were abandoned by the [path of] patience (*kṣānti*), then, just as in the uninterrupted path (*ānantaryamārga*) one still possesses the acquisition of defilements, if the ordinary-worldling nature were abandoned by patience, at the very moment patience arises one would still have to be an ordinary worldling, and thus a noble one (*ārya*) would also have to be an ordinary worldling.
