論「除順下分結至斷對治故」，明根本地無欲界修道斷對治也。以依根本不起斷欲修惑無間、解脫道故，亦不修下斷對治故。彼師意以依第四禪入見道修六地斷治，修道不爾。《正理》破云「此不成證。謂所修地雖復不同，然俱唯修上界治故。」

On the Śāstra's statement: "Excluding the fetters favorable to the lower realm... up to... because of being a counteragent of abandonment": this clarifies that the fundamental stages lack the counteragents that sever [defilements] to be abandoned by the path of cultivation in the desire realm. This is because, relying on the fundamental [stages], one does not produce the uninterrupted paths and paths of liberation that sever the defilements of the desire realm to be abandoned by cultivation, nor does one cultivate the counteragents severing the lower [realms]. That master's intent was that by entering the path of seeing relying on the fourth dhyāna, one cultivates the counteragents severing defilements of the six stages, whereas for the path of cultivation it is not so. The Nyāyānusāra refutes this, saying: "This does not constitute proof. For although the cultivated stages are indeed different, nonetheless they all solely cultivate counteragents of the higher realms."
