On the Śāstra's text, "Speaking of abandoning five... because of abandoning the previous five": This explains abandoning five. These are the three [parijñās] of seeing [the noble truths] in the desire realm, that which is abandoned by seeing suffering and origin in the formless realm, and that which is abandoned by seeing cessation. Because parijñā is aggregated, one does not obtain what is abandoned by the path of seeing. Based on the above abandonment of two and abandonment of five, we know that according to both treatises, one who transcends to the fruit through kṣānti also obtains the parijñā of the exhaustion of the five lower fetters. The previous statement about obtaining six indicated the gradual progression. According to this passage, both the Kośa and the Nyāyānusāra state that one abandons five or abandons two; thus we know that for the fruit based on the fundamental dhyāna, two in the path of seeing and three in the path of cultivation is the correct view.
