On the Śāstra's words, "Namely, among those to be abandoned... subsuming those three approaches": this takes up the former approach to explain that the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing generally comprise three classes: those belonging to one [division], those common to two, and those common to four divisions. That is, view of self-existence and extreme view belong only under [the truth of] suffering; attachment to rules and rituals is common to [the truths of] suffering and the path; and attachment to views, wrong view, and doubt are stated to be common to all four divisions. The view of self-existence subsumes one division. Attachment to rules and rituals subsumes two divisions. Doubt subsumes four divisions.
