On the Śāstra's words, "Some provide this explanation... therefore it speaks of abandoning three": this recounts an alternative explanation. "Due to the view of self-existence, one dreads liberation and does not wish to set forth": fearing that when nirvāṇa is attained the self will be annihilated, one does not wish to set forth. "Due to attachment to rules and rituals, one relies on and clings to a wrong path": because conceiving what is not the path to be the path is called attachment to rules and rituals. "Due to doubt, one harbors deep hesitation regarding the path": one doubts whether the right path is the path or not the path. Therefore the Buddha specifically spoke of three, and simultaneously revealed the rest; thus he spoke only of three and did not speak of six.
