23.113

論「此在未來至如燈及生相」，燈生時正能滅暗，住時已滅。生相生時正能生法，住時已生。苦法智忍亦於生時滅異生性，住時已滅。

The Śāstra states: "This, when in the future... up to: like a lamp and the characteristic of arising." When a lamp is arising, it is precisely then able to destroy darkness; when it abides, [darkness] has already been destroyed. When the characteristic of arising is arising, it is precisely then able to produce dharmas; when it abides, they have already been produced. The forbearance with the cognition of dharma regarding suffering (duḥkhe dharmajñānakṣānti) also, at the time of arising, destroys the state of being an ordinary person (pṛthagjanatva); when it abides, it has already been destroyed.
