The Śāstra states: "Other masters say... up to: because it is the path of liberation." This is the explanation of other masters. Fascicle 1 of the Vibhāṣā states: "Other masters say: The worldly supreme dharmas and the forbearance with the cognition of dharma regarding suffering mutually assist each other to abandon the state of being an ordinary person. That is, although the worldly supreme dharmas are constantly contrary to the state of being an ordinary person, because their power is weak they cannot abandon it alone. Therefore they induce the arising of the forbearance with the cognition of dharma regarding suffering, and together they assist each other in abandoning the state of being an ordinary person. For example, a weak man relying on a strong man can, by mutually assisting each other, subdue an enemy. Through this cause and condition, the worldly supreme dharmas are like the uninterrupted path (ānantaryamārga) and the forbearance with the cognition of dharma regarding suffering is like the path of liberation (vimuktimārga) in abandoning the state of being an ordinary person."
