The Śāstra says: "...up to: hence it is subsumed under the path of cultivation." This clarifies the difference between the path of vision and the path of cultivation. Forbearance is called seeing; cognition is called cognition. Up to the fifteenth moment of mind, the vision of the eight truths is completed; regarding each and every truth, having never seen it before, seeing it for the first time is called seeing the truths. Because the seeing of the truths is complete, there is no truth that has never been seen or not yet seen. Although one's knowledge of the eight truths has not yet been exhaustive, because one has not yet given rise to cognition regarding the path of the higher realms, the present discussion clarifies the path of vision and does not clarify the path of cognition, so there is no flaw. If one speaks of the path of cognition, it is complete only at the sixteenth; because one speaks of the path of vision, it extends up to the fifteenth. The sixteenth sees anew, hence it is called cultivation, just as in the rest of the path of cultivation one sees the truths anew.
