23.17

論「理實應言至便住不謬」，論主釋也。慧令念住，得念住名。慧是其因，念住為果，慧名念住，因受果名。引二經證，如文可解。正理論師通其兩釋。梵名阿尼律陀，此云無滅。

[On the *Śāstra*’s:] “In truth, one should say … then it abides without error,” is the author’s explanation. Wisdom causes mindfulness to abide, hence it obtains the name application of mindfulness. Wisdom is the cause and the abiding of mindfulness is the effect; wisdom is called application of mindfulness because the cause receives the name of the effect. Citing two sūtras as proof, it is understandable from the text. The masters of the *Nyāyānusāra* accept both explanations. The Sanskrit name Aniruddha is translated here as Unextinguished.
