24.100

「論曰至阿羅漢向」，明第四向。從斷初禪惑至非想第九無間，總是第四果、向。第九無間道別明金剛定，所以但言至八品也。

The Śāstra says: "[…] to the candidate for arhatship," clarifying the fourth candidate. From the abandonment of the defilements of the first dhyāna up to the ninth uninterrupted path of neither-perception-nor-non-perception, all constitute the candidate for the fourth fruit. The ninth uninterrupted path is separately explained as the vajropamasamādhi; for this reason, it only says "up to the eighth grade."
