論「自地煩惱至不治自地」，釋自地道不能斷自地惑所以。《正理論》云「何緣下地起世俗道不能對治上地隨眠？上地定非下地世俗厭行斷道所緣境故。非厭下地能離上染，上地望下極微妙故。由此證知，唯無漏力能離有頂，其理善成。」

On the Śāstra's statement: "The afflictions of one's own ground up to does not remedy its own ground": This explains why the path of one's own ground cannot sever the defilements of one's own ground. The Nyāyānusāra states: "For what reason can a worldly path arising in a lower ground not counteract the latent defilements (anuśaya) of a higher ground? Because a higher ground is definitely not an objective referent of a lower ground's worldly severing path characterized by disgust. It is not the case that disgust toward a lower ground can abandon the defilement of a higher ground, because the higher ground is extremely subtle and superior compared to the lower. From this it is proven that only the power of the anāsrava can abandon the summit of existence; this principle is well established."
