The passage of the treatise starting with "However, Śakra, Lord of the Gods... the Buddha also did not stop him" explains a doubt and objection. Because Śakra, Lord of the Gods, was afflicted with extreme distress and suffering due to the five signs of death, he came and took refuge in the World-Honoured One. As soon as the signs of death were eliminated, he spoke these words to induce joy. Furthermore, seeing that stopping him would have little benefit, the Buddha did not stop him.
