On the Śāstra's statement: "Although all are like this ... distinct from what is abandoned by cultivation": This is the explanation. Although all take the truths as their domain without knowing them as they truly are, there is a distinction. Because each of the defilements abandoned by cultivation permanently involves the distinction of agreeable and disagreeable, and this characteristic is not non-existent with respect to the cognized object, they are called "having an objective fact". The defilements abandoned by seeing impute a self, annihilation, or permanence, but the domain of the truths does not have the characteristics of a self and so on; thus, being distinct from the path of cultivation, they are called "without an objective fact".
