25.81

論「然見道位至如無學位」，明異生、見道、修道三位中，見道無練根，凡位、修位皆有練根，如無學也。《婆沙》第七云「順解脫分亦有六種，謂退性等。轉順退解脫種姓起思法等，轉思等性亦爾。轉聲聞起獨覺及佛，轉獨覺起聲聞及佛。若佛種姓順解脫分已即不可轉，極猛利故。亦說決擇分有六種性。」

Regarding the treatise text “However, in the stage of the path of seeing […] as in the stage of the non-trainee”: this clarifies that among the three stages of ordinary persons, the path of seeing, and the path of cultivation, there is no refining of the faculties in the path of seeing, while in both the stage of ordinary persons and the stage of cultivation there is refining of the faculties, just as in the stage of the non-trainee. Fascicle 7 of the Vibhāṣā says: “The factors conducive to liberation also have six types, namely, the lineage liable to falling away, and so on. Transforming the lineage conducive to liberation that is liable to falling away, one gives rise to that of deliberation, and so forth; transforming the lineage of deliberation and the like is also thus. Transforming the [lineage of a] disciple, one gives rise to that of a pratyekabuddha and a Buddha; transforming that of a pratyekabuddha, one gives rise to that of a disciple and a Buddha. If one has already attained the factors conducive to liberation of the Buddha-lineage, it cannot be transformed, because it is extremely sharp. It is also said that the aids to penetration have six lineages.”
