The passage of the śāstra from “Above this, future [cultivation]” up to “knowledge of another's mind is added” explains future cultivation in the three paradigms above. Because one has not yet departed from desire, and because it is an uninterrupted path, knowledge of another's mind is not cultivated. Because exhaustion and non-arising have not yet been attained, dharma and subsequent [knowledges] are mutually cultivated because the power of causes mutually assists them; the explanations below follow this. Abandoning the stage of the peak of existence adds knowledge of another's mind, which clarifies the peak of existence. Therefore, cultivation through activity in the previous eight liberation [paths] is the same as in the uninterrupted [paths]. The reason they are not explained together is that their future cultivations differ: the eight liberation paths cultivate knowledge of another's mind, whereas the uninterrupted [paths] do not; in the ninth liberation [path], there are either nine or ten, and hence it is explained separately. “Excluding the conventional” is because it is the counteragent to the peak of existence. “Adding [knowledge of] another's mind” is because it is a liberation path.
