28.184

「論曰有至應如理思」，廣答。退分雖是淨定，許與煩惱相出入故，若斷自地煩惱時捨，若退自地煩惱時得。由生得、捨、准此可知。

The passage of the śāstra from 'The Śāstra says: There are...' down to '...should be considered in accordance with principle' answers in detail. Although the part conducive to degeneration is a pure attainment, it is admitted to associate back and forth with afflictions; therefore, when severing the afflictions of its own stage, it is abandoned, and when falling back into the afflictions of its own stage, it is acquired. Acquisition and abandonment through rebirth can be understood by analogy with this.
