28.220

「論曰至可厭毀故」，述諸定上依自、下身，下定不依上身也。一無用故、二自有勝定故、三下勢力劣故、四已棄捨故、五可厭毀故，由此五因上身不起下定。

[On] the śāstra's: "The text says ... because it is worthy of revulsion and condemnation": This explains that higher concentrations are supported by their own and lower bodies, but lower concentrations are not supported by higher bodies. Due to five reasons—(1) because it is useless, (2) because one possesses superior concentration on one's own, (3) because the power of the lower is inferior, (4) because it has already been abandoned, and (5) because it is worthy of revulsion and condemnation—a higher body does not give rise to a lower concentration.
