3.43

論「復有餘師別說根相」，下一頌，第三述餘師建立二十二根。二十二根是經說故，諸師皆無增減。其數建立是論師意，所以諸說不同。

The Śāstra states: "There are yet other masters who explain the characteristics of the faculties differently." In the following single verse, it thirdly recounts the establishment of the twenty-two faculties by other masters. Because the twenty-two faculties are stated in the sūtras, the various masters make no addition or reduction. The establishment of their number is the intention of the masters of the treatises, which is why the various explanations differ.
