3.82

論「又契經說至亦通有漏」，論主引經證信等五根通有漏也。佛未轉法輪時未有聖人，此時已說有情根上、中、下，故知說有漏信等五根。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Furthermore, a sutra says […] also extend to being sāsrava": The author of the treatise cites a sutra to prove that the five faculties such as faith extend to being sāsrava. When the Buddha had not yet turned the dharmacakra, noble beings did not yet exist; at that time he had already spoken of the superior, middling, and inferior faculties of sentient beings, so it is known that he spoke of the sāsrava five faculties such as faith.
