論「焰相續中至說名能了」，釋也。燈異處相續生時名為燈行，識於異境說識為能了，即體是能也。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Within the continuum of the flames [...] it is said to 'be able to cognise'": This is the explanation. When a lamp arises continuously in different locations, it is called the lamp's "going"; when consciousness [arises] with respect to different objects, it is said that consciousness is "able to cognise"; thus its very essence is its capacity.
