30.14

論「如上所引至補特伽羅」，論主釋經意也。為令了此以蘊為我，可說無常，非實有性。即五取蘊自相逼害，得重擔名。前前剎那引後後故名為荷者，非是實有別我名為荷者。

On the Śāstra's statement: "As cited above [...] the pudgala": The author of the Śāstra explains the intention of the sūtra. In order to make it understood that taking the aggregates as the self can be described as impermanent and not a substantially existent entity: precisely the mutual torment of the five aggregates of clinging receives the name 'heavy burden'; and because preceding moments give rise to subsequent moments, they are called the 'bearer'; it is not that a substantially existent separate self is called the 'bearer.'
