論「有說敬者至故敬非慚」，此第三師釋慚、敬。此師意說：敬是有所崇重，由此為先方生慚、恥，即敬為慚因也。

On the Śāstra's [words], "Some say that veneration […] therefore veneration is not respectful shame": this third master explains respectful shame and veneration. This master's intended meaning is: veneration is having something to esteem, and only with this as precedent do respectful shame and a sense of shame arise; thus veneration is the cause of respectful shame.
