5.148

論「若顯喻義至亦有如聲」，論主破前難也。若謂要有譬喻方得有如聲者，如人一分天是第一識住，此之如聲欲喻何法？故知無喻亦有如聲。如梵眾言亦非譬喻，但是舉其梵眾兼顯上天。

The treatise says: "If it reveals the sense of analogy, up to: there is also the word 'like'." The author of the treatise refutes the previous objection. If you say that there must be an analogy for the word 'like' to occur, then as in 'human beings and one portion of devas are the first station of consciousness,' what dharma is this word 'like' intended to illustrate? Therefore, one knows that even without an analogy, the word 'like' can occur. The phrase 'like the Brahmapāriṣadya devas' is also not an analogy; it merely mentions the Brahmapāriṣadya devas to also reveal the higher heavens.
