5.208

論「諸說住等至剎那滅義」，經部難也。若用前後，諸法生已經住時、異時、滅時，三時既別，應三剎那時之極少，名剎那故，即違教說剎那滅義。

On the treatise passage: "Those who say that staying and the rest … the principle of momentary cessation": the Sautrāntika objects. If their functions occur in succession, then after a phenomenon arises, it must undergo the time of staying, the time of alteration, and the time of cessation; since these three times are distinct, there would have to be three moments, for the minimal unit of time is called a moment; this would contradict the scriptural teaching on the principle of momentary cessation.
