論「餘部師說至名非擇滅」，論主敘上座部計也。彼計由慧簡擇功能，隨眠不生，名為擇滅。隨眠闕緣不生，及苦果不生，名非擇滅。

[When] the treatise [states]: "Masters of other schools say ... is termed cessation independent of deliberation," the author of the treatise relates the view of the Sthaviras: "They maintain that the non-arising of latent defilements through the function of wisdom's deliberation is termed cessation through deliberation. The non-arising of latent defilements due to the deficiency of conditions, as well as the non-arising of the fruition of suffering, is termed cessation independent of deliberation."
