論「如世尊說至義亦應然」，引例釋也。如煩惱非色，緣色等故，名為色等。煩惱非過去等，緣過去等，故名過去等。

[When] the treatise [states]: "As the World-Honoured One said ... the meaning should likewise be understood in this way," an analogous case is cited in explanation: "Just as defilements are not form, yet because they take form and so forth as objects they are termed form and so forth, so defilements are not past and so forth, yet because they take the past and so forth as objects they are termed past and so forth."
