論「雖有此文至名眾苦斷」，經部通也。此經意說：緣過去等煩惱斷故名眾苦斷，非謂斷過去、現在煩惱名眾苦斷。

[When] the treatise [states]: "Although this passage exists ... is termed the severance of all suffering," the Sautrāntika resolves this: "The intent of this sūtra is to say: because defilements that take the past and so forth as objects are severed, it is termed the severance of all suffering; it does not mean that severing past and present defilements is termed the severance of all suffering."
