6.230

論「如是二世至說名業盡」，舉法釋也。由過去、現在生煩惱熏成種子，由道力故彼種子斷。此過、現所薰種子斷時，名過、現生煩惱斷也。此即果斷說因斷也、如異熟盡時說名業盡。

[When] the treatise [states]: "Such two times ... is spoken of as the exhaustion of karma," this explains by adducing a dharma: "Defilements of past and present births perfume and form seeds; through the power of the path, those seeds are severed. When these seeds perfumed in the past and present are severed, it is spoken of as the severance of defilements born in the past and present. This is speaking of the severance of the cause when the effect is severed, just as when ripened fruition is exhausted, it is spoken of as the exhaustion of karma."
