「論曰至此因所得」，釋頌上兩句也。如文可解。五果次第，一異熟、二等流、三離繫、四士用、五增上。此果次第，狹者先說、廣者後說。因即廣者先說、狹者後說。由此前因對其後果。由第三離繫非六因得，此中不論。與士用果少相濫故，次士用之前。及狹於士用果，非士用後。故於五數之中列在士用果前，不同四果廣狹次第，所以非次異熟之後。

The verse states: "…are obtained by this cause": This explains the first two lines of the verse. It can be understood from the text. The order of the five fruits is: first, retributive result (vipākaphala); second, outflow result (niṣyandaphala); third, disjunction result (visaṃyogaphala); fourth, virile result (puruṣakāraphala); fifth, dominant result (adhipatiphala). As for this order of results, the narrower are stated first and the broader are stated later. As for the causes, the broader are stated first and the narrower are stated later. Thus the preceding causes correspond to their subsequent results. Because the third, the disjunction result, is not obtained from the six causes, it is not discussed here. Because it is slightly confounded with the virile result, it precedes the virile result. Furthermore, being narrower than the virile result, it is not placed after the virile result. Therefore, among the five categories, it is listed before the virile result; not following the broader-to-narrower order of the four results, it is therefore not placed after the retributive result.
