論「生謂當來至故不名生」，答也。雖生與起名異義同，於四有中立生名者，謂於當來所應至處建立生名，非於餘位，由斯中有名起非生。

On the passage in the śāstra from "'Birth' refers to the future" to "hence it is not called birth": This is the answer. Although "birth" and "arising" are different words with the same meaning, when establishing the name "birth" among the four existences, the name "birth" is established with respect to the place that is to be reached in the future, not in other stages. Therefore, intermediate existence is named "arising" and not "birth."
