8.74

論「彼說五趣至總名村落」，有部通也。「彼說五趣續生心中容有五部一切煩惱」者，謂結生心通三十六、三十一等。即結生心五部隨眠之所隨增，假說結生以為趣也，如村落邊假名村落。

On the Śāstra's statement: "They say that for the five destinies ... is collectively called a village": the Sarvāstivāda resolves this. In "They say that for the five destinies, in the mind of connecting rebirth there can be all defilements of the five categories", the mind linking rebirth extends to the thirty-six, the thirty-one, and so on. That is, the mind linking rebirth is that in which the anuśayas of the five categories grow concurrently; by a designation, linking rebirth is taken to be the destiny, just as the edge of a village is metaphorically called the village.
