On the Śāstra's statement: 'Or there are five aggregates, up to: exactly as stated': the Sautrāntikas cite an example as proof. For example, there may be an arhat who, because of the absence of defilements, has no formative factors—meritorious formative factors do not exist, non-meritorious formative factors do not exist, and unshakeable formative factors do not exist; consciousness that connects with rebirth, craving, clinging, existence, and so on are all absent. If one does not take solely 'this exists, so that exists', then at that time the five aggregates are also complete; why are they not called formative factors, up to craving and the rest?
