9.6

論「彼居本有至況在中有」，答也。就中有三：一中有時未有猛火；二以中有極微細故；三逐難釋。以業力故，五趣中有雖同一處，非互觸燒。此第一也。地獄本有尚不恒燒，況在中有。

[On the] Śāstra's [words], "While dwelling in prime existence... how much less in intermediate existence": this is the reply. Within this, there are three points: first, at the time of intermediate existence, there is not yet raging fire; second, because intermediate existence is extremely subtle; third, answering by following the objection. Due to karmic power, although the intermediate existences of the five destinies are in the same location, they do not burn or touch each other. This is the first point. Even in prime existence in hell it is not constantly burning, how much less in intermediate existence.
